Friday Signal: End of An Era

No one was talking about anything other than Steve Jobs in my Twitter feed these past two days, and I follow nearly 1,000 people. So many comments, in fact, Twitter buckled, which it hadn’t done for months. I started my career covering Apple, and celebrated when Jobs came back ten years later (yes, I’m that old). So this Friday links will be heavy with links about Jobs. To them:

Beautiful: Public #thankyousteve Tweets visualised into a giant Steve Jobs poster (TNW) This is where I got today’s image.

Steve Jobs Was Always Kind To Me (Or, Regrets of An Asshole) (Wirecutter) New site (yes, an FM site, and thanks Intel), but a fellow with stories to tell.

The Steve Jobs I Knew (WSJ-Walt) Walt at his best.

Steve Jobs: He Brought the Show to Business (NYT) David Carr has a great take on Jobs – “he made business cool.”

Steve Jobs, 1955-2011 (Wired) Steven had a lot more access to Jobs than most journalists.

Congress Pays Its Respects to Steve Jobs (PC) Politicians love the limelight.

A Tribute to Steve Jobs (NatGeo) National Geographic?! That says it all.

Eric Schmidt on Steve Jobs (BW) Eric comes off as a true gent here.

Jobs asked Isaacson to write bio in 2004 because ‘I wanted my kids to know me’ (Poynter) That’s so sad. And real.

Amazon’s CTO: “Amazon is a technology company. We just happen to do retail” (TNW) Watch. This. Space.

Me, On The Book And More (Searchblog) If you want to hear me explain the next book, this is a start.

REAMDE: A Review (RWW) Neal Stephenson is kind of a hero of mine. This is his current book.

Who’ll be at Web 2.0 Summit? Everyone. (Web2) A note that readers of Signal get a special discount. To redeem it, email me or check your email.

Ad revenues for social networks could reach $10B globally in 2013 (TNW) That’s some real moolah.
