Cool: Bing + Twitter + Mashable

Just this morning we announced a new partnership between Bing and Mashable. First, Bing is now the default search engine on Mashable, which is awesome, but cooler than that is this Bing Local Twitter Trends Map.

See Bing’s announcement here along with a great video conversation between Pete Cashmore, CEO of Mashable, and Chris Pendleton, Bing Maps Technical Evangelist.

Utilizing the Twitter local trends API and Bing Maps, the new feature allows readers to visually browse hot topics in their area, then click through that particular topic and find out what the trends are all about via Bing search. So cool.

From Bing Local Twitter Trends:

What’s trending where you are? Mashable’s Twitter Trends Map, powered by Bing, helps you discover the top ten most tweeted terms in major cities right now – both in the US and internationally.

Are Londoners tweeting about tech? Is social media the talk of the town in San Francisco? The Twitter Trends Map will help you find out!
